In reply to the card of Mrs Warren Newcomb, which you did me the honour to enclose in your letter of the 14th Inst: I have sent to her by mail, and a note of thanks.  I enclose to you my photograph for Mrs James Robb, which I infer from your letter she desired, as I do not know her address.  I also send one to you as you requested.  The one taken by Mr P. S. Perkins which you sent for my signature, is not considered good.  Please express my thanks to the Honbl E. M. Bruce for the aid he kindly proposes to Washington College.  I should be most happy to see him, if he could visit Lexington, to show him the present condition of the College, & to explain to him the purposes of the trustees. 
Judge Brockenbrough has kept me advised of the results of your visit to New York etc: and I can heartily congratulate you upon the assistance you have recd from the friends you found there.  I hope you will be able satisfactorily to complete the business you have so well begun. 
I presume the Board of Trustees (page 2) will advise you as to your future course, Hoping you may find your family & friends in Staunton well, & and that every happiness may attend your visit to them
