MLYNARSKI [address redacted] NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT O6051 TELEPHONE [phone number redacted] Nov 4, 1983 Dear President John Wilson, I cast my ballot in favor of main- taining Washington and Lee University an all male school. Admitting women would only destroy a 235-year tradition and not benefit the University at all. Very truly yours. Paul G. Cavaliere Law Class '48 [pb] November 14, 1983 Mr. Paul G. Cavaliere [address redacted] New Britain, Connecticut 06051 Mr. Paul G. Cavaliere: Thanks for your note. I'm pleased to have your views recorded. It is a complicated question and, as I discover, good men can come down on either side of it. Did you feel as strongly about the Law School decision? I'm curious to learn from you whether you believe that decision made any sense or whether it is one you regret. The Washington and Lee people on the Faculty in the Law School seem pleased with the result. I'm not sure how one ought to look at differences between the graduate and undergraduate ex- perience in this connection and would welcome your further reflections on this point. Most sincerely, John D. Wilson President JDW/bcb
