My Dear Mother: Camp Terrible [June 10, 1861] We got here about ten last night all safe and sound. We are quartered in the old depot about a mile from the city. For breakfast I had two quart tins full of strong KOFFEE and chunks of bread about a yard square. We expect to remain here for some time but do not know certainly as we have not seen Gen. H[arper]. The Captain staid at the Virginia House last night. I got three bunches of flowers before I left town. Got the very ---- women here. I went to see one and she asked me to stay with her as long as we staid here. We are going to march to the Pres. church today. You must excuse this scratch as I am writing it standing up and on the bottom of my canteen. Your Son, Ted
