Stamp enclosed Fort Delaware Aug. 21st/64 Dear Sister: I rec'd your letter dated the 17th July a day or so ago and would have answered it immediately but as there was a prospect of going south myself I postponed it until it was decided who should go and as I am not among the fortunate ones I will now write. I am greatly relieved at hearing of the wellfare of you all; I feared it might be otherwise. Since my last letter cousin Billy has been to see me, he was very kind and is everything that he could wish. Sends his love to you all; Sallie is well but Tell is not in good health, has had quite a severe spell of sickness, Typhoid fever; his life was for several days despaired of, but he has gotten a great deal better. I have been very well supplied and am as comfortable as circumstances will permit. I requested Lieut. Doyle, who left here with the homeward bound prisoners to write to you all. He was in my mess while here. Lieut. Lyle is quite well. If you have an opportunity let Mrs. Robbins know that her son who was a member of our company is here and well. Give my love to all friends. Hoping to be able soon to see you all again, I am -- Love to Mother and Pax Your brother A.T. Barclay Lt. 4th. Va. Inf.
