[Healthcare Policy Reforms for the Uninsured and Underinsured]

Abstract

Contemporary means of healthcare for both the uninsured and underinsured lead to insufficient access to medical resources and disproportionately poor health outcomes for both groups. Current obstacles to access include temporal, spatial, and educational impediments in addition to the obvious financial concerns. Consequently, healthcare policy reforms must address all of the current access impediments to remove the harmful consequences of the current, multi-operational system called the healthcare “safety net.” [From Introduction]
