This is essentially a program for the 1976 Mock Convention, with ads and articles and photographs. Page 1 is the front cover, done in red, white and blue. Page 3 credits the cover design to "Brett Burkhart and Rick Wolf with thanks to Rom Weatherman." Page 2 is used to express appreciation to the Hatton W. Sumners Foundation of Dallas TX. Page 3 includes the publication statement, a table of contents, and a list of the officers. This edition of the Mock Convention Journal was printed by The News-Gazette of Lexington VA. Professor Hampden H. Smith, III was the faculty advisor for the Journal and there is a statement thanking several of Professor Smith's journalism classes for their assistance. The cover design is credited to Brett Burkhart and Rick Wolf, "with thanks to Rom Weatherman. Page 4 is a full-page ad for Newport News Shipbuilding (Newport News VA). Page 5 has four ads. The top ad is for two radio stations in Vermont: WTWN and WIKE. The second ad is for "your campus dining service" ARA-Slater School & College Services. The third ad is for Nicholas Turkey Breeding Farms, Inc. The fourth ad is for Hillyard Floor Treatments (St. Joseph MO). Page 6 is a full-page ad for Commercial National Bank of Little Rock (AK), saluting Everett Tucker, Jr., past president of the W&L Alumni Association. Page 7 is two ads: Collateral Investment Company (Birmingham AL) and the U.S. Marines. Page 8 is a full-page ad for Gulf States Paper (Tuscaloosa AL). Page 9 is a full-page ad for the Vermont Democratic Party. Page 10 is a full-page ad in which the 1976 Mock Convention salutes Lyndon B. Johnson and Harry S. Truman. A photograph of the two men, together, is included. Page 11 is a full-page portrait of Thomas Jefferson with a caption referring to him as "Father of the Democratic Party." Page 12 (labeled page 10) is the beginning of an article, "Journal Interview: Robert E. R. Huntley." There are three photos of Huntley who was serving as University President at the time. The article is continued on the next page. Page 13 (labeled page 11) continues the article, "Journal Interview: Robert E. R. Huntley." The article is continued on page 31 of the Journal.
