Most studies conclude that children of single parents are at a disadvantage. . . . This paper looks in particular at the most disadvantaged demographic in this subset: teenage never-married mothers. I am focusing on this demographic because, as Ruth Sidel explains, "…teen pregnancy is of special concern because of the physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences of early parenthood on young mothers and their babies" (Sidel 118).
