Capstone; [FULL-TEXT RESTRICTED TO WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY LOGIN] Amani Children's Village serves as an example of the flaws in the charitable aid system in which money flows directly to an organization through donations in the classic NGO format. The difficulties seen in terms of Amani, a small organization, can be seen in larger and farther reaching charitable aid as well. This sets up a perfect case study of why aid has not been working in Africa and what ultimately needs to be done to remedy this situation. [From introductory section] Alice Matthai
