    Description
This recording has basic news coverage of the 1956 Mock Convention Parade. The speaker is Bob Bradford. He describes the first car, carrying Senator Alben Barkley and Dr. Gaines, W&L's president. The second car carried Virginia Governor Thomas Stanley who was to introduce Barkley's keynote speech following the parade. The first float in the parade is that from Virginia with the other state floats following in alphabetical order. The New Jersey float will carry Sharon Kay Ritchie, the 1956 Miss America. Other floats mentioned are Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Mississippi. And the Augusta Military Academy marching band is mentioned as being the loudest and most musical.
