Tom Camden, Head of Special Collections & Archives, shows us the letter where George Washington gives Liberty Hall Academy 150 shares of James River and Potomac Canal Company stock. He had received the stock as a gift from the Virginia General Assembly in recognition of his service to the commonwealth and his support of canal-building. The stock was valued at $20,000, which would be worth millions today. This video was created by the Washington and Lee University News Office.
