Kenneth A. Lambert is a Professor in the Computer Science Department at Washington and Lee University.

This book introduces programming in a programming language called Haskell. Haskell was designed to support a style of programming called functional programming. The meaning of this term will soon become clear, but first a word of warning. This book is intended primarily for readers who already know a bit about programming, through experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. These readers will benefit by learning the functional style of programming as a new way of solving problems with a computer. If you know nothing about programming, and wish to have an easier go of it, you might consider trying your hand at programming in a language like Java or Python before you go through this book. Some excellent introductory texts in these languages are listed in the bibliography. [From Introduction]
