The letter describes two explosions at the mine which resulted in the deaths of 117 miners. The Committee seeks to raise and administer funds to assist the dependents of those who died. The Committee members are listed. The return envelope is addressed to the Treasurer, R. E. Bolling, an employee of the Flat Top National Bank in Bluefield, W.
