dc.descriptionThese photographs are portraits of William W. Ackerly. He is seated and is wearing his World War I uniform. In one image, he is wearing his hat decorated for his rank of Army Artillery Captain, and in the other he is bare headed. He served in Company I, 102nd Trench Mortar Battery, 52nd Artillery Brigade, 27th Division. This print was made from the original glass plate negative, which are housed at Virginia Historical Society.en_US
