The purpose of these experiments was not to produce a pulp that was absolutely unaffected by fire. Nor was it the aim of the writer to develope any one pulp to its maximum efficiency, but solely to place upon a comparative basis the fire-retardant action of different concentrations of several substances with which the pulp may be treated to reduce its flammability, and upon this basis to state the observed differences and simiiarities of the pulp impregnated with these various chemicals.
