The following paper is an analysis of seven novels of the contemporary Spanish writer Angel Maria de Lera. The intention is to evidence the maturation of Lera as a writer during the ten years that the seven novels cover and -- foremost -- to present a whole picture of those ten years to evaluate what Lera is essentially writing about. Tracing development and evaluating the whole presented a problem of method: the solution used is division of the paper into four parts -- the first (and by far the largest) treats the seven novels separately and differently in chronological order, while the last three sections treat respectively the technique and the style, the characters, and the meaning as a whole.
